WHAT SHOULD I THINK ABOUT WHEN CHOOSING MY BLOGGING NICHE?

WHAT SHOULD I THINK ABOUT WHEN CHOOSING MY BLOGGING NICHE?

CHOOSING MY BLOGGING NICHE?

Now, hopefully you're convinced that your blog must have a niche. But what niche should it be? How can you choose the right niche for your blog's website? Here are five things to keep in mind:

1. What is your passion?

Your blog will do well and you will continue to write about this topic for many years. Make sure you love what you do! What do you enjoy doing? Is it something that you love so much that you want to write about this topic every day for the rest your life? What do you ramble on about to your friends?

Writing about something that you love will not only be beneficial for you, it will also keep you engaged and interested. Enthusiasm can be infectious!

2. 2. What area are you an expert?

Are you an expert in something already? This could be a formal one, such as a lawyer, tax expert, or registered nutritionist. It could also be an informal one. What do you know about? What are your family members and friends most interested in? What are your strengths? Perhaps you think you are an expert on luxury travel or baby lead weaning. Perhaps your family members are constantly asking you for advice on hairstyles and makeup, or how to better manage their money. It's a great place for you to begin if you have a lot of experience.

TOP TIP: Ask if you're not sure - you might be surprised to find out! Because I am such an organized and efficient blogger, this is one of the reasons why I started this blog. I didn't realize it until people started to tell me. It's my normal, but it's something that other people don't have.

3. Which subject would you love to become an expert in?

Don't worry if you don't know anything about it. You can still learn! You can become an expert by simply starting a blog about the subject and then writing about it. If you are unable to think of a topic that you are an expert on, then think about the topic that you want to be an expert in. Imagine that a publisher approached you three years ago and asked you to write about your expertise.

The 'journey blog' is a popular type of blog. This blog is where you begin as a student. You have a problem in life or something you want. Then you blog about it. Over the years, you become a teacher and start teaching others.

A journey blog is a blog that documents how a person loses weight, becomes fitter and more healthy, or changes in their finances. These bloggers eventually become experts and teach others how to lose weight/get in shape/sort their finances. These kinds of blogs can be very profitable in the long-term.

4. Is it possible to make money with it?

You must consider whether you can make money with your blog if you want it to become a business. Certain niches are very well-suited to making money. This includes anything to do with money, health, diet/saving money/getting more organised, etc. Others are less profitable. Before you decide on the topic, think about how you will make money. For example, what products or services could you sell in this niche? Are there any recommendations that you could make to increase affiliate sales? Are there any brands you could recommend that would be interested in purchasing sponsored posts from your site?

5. Do you have a niche that you can make your own?

Do you think there is a niche where you can offer something new? Is there a niche you can see that nobody is talking about? You can gain a significant advantage over anyone else who wants to join that niche (if it's very popular). Two caveats:

First, it may be that there is a reason that no one is discussing that topic - perhaps you are the only person who is interested in that topic. Ask yourself if there are enough people interested in the topic to make it worth your time.

Second, don't be too downhearted about this one. You might feel that every niche is already occupied and that you don't have anything to add, but this is not true. While there may be very few new ideas, there is no way to know what you have. You can only be yourself and add your unique perspective to the topic. You are your niche in many ways!

SHOULD MY BLOG HAVE a BROAD NICHE / A NARROW?

The last thing to consider is the niche that you want to be in. Are you looking for a narrow niche with a lot of content? Or would you prefer a wider niche that allows you to write on more topics. It all depends on who you are. While it is true that "the riches are in niches" and generally, the tighter the niche, the more engagement you will get and ultimately the greater the money you can make, some people may feel restricted by narrow niches and want to write more widely.

The 'lifestyle niche' may be the best option, since it allows you to have more freedom. This will allow you to write on a wider range of topics, such as fashion, food, and parenting. You shouldn't abandon the notion of niche completely. Otherwise, your blog will feel chaotic and unconnected. For example, you could make it a vegan lifestyle blog, blogging about vegan food and fashion, parenting, and travel. You could also make it a luxury lifestyle blog and blog about luxury travel, luxury fashion, luxury parenting, etc. Luxury food.
